Upper Dolpo Trekking

Upper Dolpo lies north of the Dhaulagiri mountain range, bordering Tibet and the Tibetan plateau. The Dolpo region is one of Nepal's most remote and least developed districts. The combination of amazing landscapes and the traditional lifestyle and culture of Dolpo's people make this one of the most fascinating areas of Nepal. Around 130 monasteries can be found in the Dolpo region and the intense turquoise-blue Lake Phoksundo, the villages of Shey Gompa, Saldang and Dho Tharap are some of the major attractions in the area. The region is also home to some of Nepal’s most remarkable wildlife, including the Snow Leopard, Blue sheep and Tibetan chicken.
Our trek starts from Jufal airport, for the first couple of days gradually ascending through a beautiful river valley and through jungle up to alpine landscapes. The route passes through several mountain ranges, the Dhaulagiri, Kanjiroba and Annapurna range. Due to spending a fairly long time in high altitude areas and having to cross several passes over 5000m the Upper Dolpo trek is one of the more challenging treks. There are several different tour options in Upper Dolpo, please contact us for more information
