Mera Peak Climbing

Mera Peak (6476m) is one of the most popular climbing peaks in Nepal and often referred to as the highest official trekking peak, which may not be entirely correct. It is located in Hinku Valley in the Everest region, south of Everest and Lhotse.
There are several route options to Mera Peak. Accessing it from Hinku Valley also makes for a great trek past scenic villages and through magnificent landscapes, and less crowded than the normal Everest base camp route. From the summit we have superb views of Mt. Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Cho Oyu (8201m) many other mountains.
The Mera Peak climb requires some basic snow climbing skills, which can also be acquired on the spot, at the base of the glacier. It can therefore be done also by less experienced climbers and is a good option for a first Himalayan climb.
