Jomsom Muktinath Trekking

The Jomsom Muktinath trek follows partly the pilgrimage route to Muktinath Temple, a sacred place of great importance for Hindus and Buddhists alike. Muktinath Temple lies at around 3700m at the foot of Thorung La, the pass that Annapurna circuit trekkers cross coming from Manang.
The Jomsom Muktinath trek can start from various different places. We are suggesting a panoramic route that offers excellent mountain views as well as scenic villages and landscapes. In March/April some of the areas will be covered in rhododendron flowers.

Starting at Nayapul (approx. 800m), a few hours drive from Pokhara we will climb up the numerous steps to Ghorepani/Poonhill through rhododendron and magnolia forests. The view point on Poonhill offers fantastic 360 degree views on the Annapurna range and other mountains around including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna III and IV, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre/Fishtail, Lamjung Himal, Barasikhar, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Hiunchuli and many other peaks. We will continue down to the Kali Gandaki valley and pass the villages of Tatopani with its natural hot springs, Dana which is considered the point of the world's deepest gorge, Ghasa, Marpha which is famous for its apples and apple products and Kagbeni, a very scenic village which lies at the "gateway" to the restricted Upper Mustang region. On the climb up to Muktinath from Kagbeni we can admire the wonderful views across the Upper Mustang region and on Mt. Dhaulagiri. Our trek ends in Jomsom.
