Kathmandu Valley Tour

Kathmandu Valley, the shape of a green, fertile bowl, is located in the mid hills and central region of Nepal and hosts the three main city areas Bhaktapur, Patan and the capital Kathmandu. The valley covers about 350 sq. km. and is home to seven world heritage sites listed by UNESCO which include the three Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, the two Hindu temples Pashupati (in Kathmandu) and Changu Narayan (close to Bhaktapur) and the two Buddhist stupas of Boudhanath and Swayambhunath (both Kathmandu). The seven groups of monuments and buildings demonstrate the wealth of historic, religious, cultural and artistic accomplishments that the valley is known for. It is shaped by the outstanding craftsmanship, artistic skills and cultural traditions of the Newar people, the indigenous inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley.
Apart from visiting the seven main cultural heritage sites we can take a stroll through the small back alleys of Patan, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu to explore the hidden corners of the city and experience the cities’ daily life. Although much as changed, you can still admire the traditional architecture and communal living style in many parts of the old towns of each of these three cities, with Bhaktapur being the best preserved as it has been under world heritage site protection relatively early on.
Visiting some of the sites outside the main city areas, like Changu Narayan, Dakshin Kali, Budhanilkanta, Kirtipur etc. we can combine with an early morning stopover or an overnight stay at one of the viewpoints in and around Kathmandu Valley (like Nagarjun, Nagarkot, Shivapuri, Chobar, Phulchoki, Pharping, Jamachok, Kakani, Dhulikhel etc.) to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the serenity of the countryside.
Depending on your wishes and time availability we can spend several days exploring the cities and the surroundings or pick the a few sites most interesting to you.
For visiting the historical and cultural sights, you will be guided by a cultural expert who will introduce you to the myths and legends of the country and the sights you are visiting, the historical background and socio-cultural and religious aspects.
Let us take you on a journey to experience the culture, traditions and beauty of the Kathmandu Valley!
