Bhairav Kund Trekking

The Bhairav Kund Trek is one of the recently opened treks and leads us to the sacred lake Bhairav Kund (around 4250m), which lies east of the Langtang mountain range. Kund means lake and Bhairav describes the destructive incarnation of Lord Shiva. The lake is sacred for Hindus and Buddhists alike and is also an important pilgrimage site for Shamans.
Our starting place Jalbire is close to the Tibetan border and can be reached by road from Kathmandu. We will be walking through a variety of different landscapes until reaching the stunningly beautiful Bhairav Kund. The route offers breath-taking views of the Langtang range, Jugal Himal range, Rolwaling range and mountain ranges in Tibet. We will be passing Newari, Gurung, Magar and Sherpa villages on the way, giving us an insight in the diversity of Nepal’s culture and ethnic groups.
